The Youngest of the Family

I was going to go into Elma now, but for some reason the blog entry didn't save, and i'm kind of covered in watermelon so we'll skip to Rikku. My dear Rikku. I have very little pictures for her, but we really are doing stuff. I promise.

First off, Anna Maria is in-charged of making the scarf and the armbands. Neither of which I have pictures of. Sorry guys. Maybe if anna comes over soon, i'll be able to hijack them and do a quick photoshoot. Anna also needs to pain those beads so I can string them through the Rikku wig.

Which looks like this if you forgot. It also needs it's headband which is on my to do list. I was really hoping to find a scrap of blue material, but it's not turning up so I might just need to cave.

Put little eye-lits (is that how you spell that?) in the bikini, don't think I have enough cord to correctly tie this. I dunno, I'll look later. Debating about chopping off the yellow piece that actually holds the two together now that it has prettier holds. I don't know though. May seem like a waste.

Made the skirt, it's actually got the pleats in the correct place, which was by accident actually. It's a little high for my liking, and longer than the actual skirt is supposed to be. But mom won't let me make it any lower (even though, what girl doesn't wear low wasted pants nowadays?). She is the youngest of the group, at 15, which is why I agreed that the skirt should be longer in the first place.

No Ass cheeks showing here. No. Stay away from her boys or meet my pistols. Dx

Two little bags top it off with  no decorations. Maybe they'll get some by the time I post this... Hmm..

Happy Cosplay regardless. :D

Wigs for one, and wigs for all!

Today, I tried on like seventeen wigs seemingly. (actually it was only three and you'll see them all below. We got our Yuna X-2, Yuna X, Paine, and Rikku wig from a website called cosplayandwigs.com which i really recommend for group cosplayers because they gave my group a discount <3.

First-- we did our hair. I find that the easiest way to do under wig hair for long hair is to do two french braids, and plan on teaching all the cosplayers similarly.

So, let's start off with Yuna (because that's me!!!)

Two wigs, $30 each from that cosplay and wig shop that I mentioned previously! :D The one on the left is Yuna from X,  and the one on the right is Yuna from X-2, which I will be using for the group shots.

So Yuna A, and Yuna B. The one on the left almost feels natural on my head while the right does not. :{ It's not so unbelievely tight that it hurts obnoxiously though, last year i wore the giant hoops on my head which I think hurt more than any short brown wig can. Also in the picture on the right, you can see my hair line. Considering I have brown hair, this isn't the largest deal, but i can see it, which annoys me.

So, naturally me and Paine posed a little bit. I was thinking of maybe using some sort of temporary hair lightener on my hair line so that it does look more natural. I don't know though. Everyone else doesn't thinks it's a big deal.

Niki right here, is showing the admiration of her beautiful wig. So on to paine! This is her, just styling it mostly with her fingers to get the wig to perk up in the manner that it needed to. She'll be doing more styling, and posting her own posts describing this styling. So stay tuned! :D

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your long hair.

Oh wait, you're not Rapunzel! Dx Paine, gtfo. Because Rikku hasn't been able to get over to try on her wig, I did it for her to make sure that nothing was abnormal, etc, and to figure out how to properly connect this little pig tail that paine is sporting oh so beautifully.

The wig company that we bought the wigs from connected the hair for the excess pony tail to this giant clip thing. And at first, this made me scared cause I had no idea how I was going to connect this to Rikku's wig. (which is a normal short blonde thing).

The wig itself is also really thick, just like all the rest, which made the pony tail surprisingly easy to attach. we used the braids, and a little bit of the pony tail to cover up the clip.

Shuyin's wig is complicated. Matt wants it to look like this, but it doesn't at the moment. So his wig is going under construction, with beautiful artist Niki at his side. He will also post progress later. (I hope).

So here are the three wigs. We really need to get better at posing with each other <<;

Happy Cosplay! :D

ToNs Of UpDaTeS!

There is so much to talk about guys! Cosplay wise we have added a Rikku, and an Elma (They came as a pair and I couldn't separate them ;] That was a joke, I promise). I have done tons of sanding as well as filling in with the guns. The head of my staff was cut out-- UGH! So much. I'll just walk you through it.

Rikku as Gabby H.
and
Elma as Niki's little sister, Anna I.

They're both awesome people. We're trying to figure out how to make both of their costumes the most cost efficient, because they're both-- well you know-- high schoolers-- and they're both sweet as georgia peaches. Now back to Yuna!

Me, acting all suave, blowing the dust off my guns and picking them up to begin working again. I totally want to take a pic like this when they're all done. :}

These are them, with a drawn on trigger, taped together with some great painters tape. As you can tell, they needed to be sanded, badly, and there are a few gabs between some of the different pieces that shouldn't be there. They should fit SNUGLY.

So, i bought some of this from the store, to repair some of the human error. It's stainable and paintable, and i figured it would have a more woody texture as opposed to something like clay. I wanted it to look like a solid piece after painting, and this helped to put together the cracks.

Me and Yuri (who was my helper throughout this whole thing-- and I THANK him for it profusely), used this dremel to help with the sanding part of the repair work. We took turns, diligently sanding. I tried to make the edges beveled so that the gun would have a more three dimensional shape, and look less like a bunch of wood pieces glued together.

Put the wood filler on, in great excess. And left both guns to dry propped up on the paint bottle which will soon be giving it it's life <3 They dried overnight,

And then we went back to sanding. Now the guns are on standby, as my mom attempts to figure out a method to cut out the trigger hole, as well as the "wheel" (as i call it), on the back. After that, they will be going back to being sanded-- which I am TOTALLY starting to resent.

With the guns on standby, we went to something else. This is actually a small version of the cut out. We went to kinkos in the middle of the night to get it blown up and re-sized, but they were going to charge us 15 dollars just for a blow up, which seemed ridiculous! Thankfully, with a little bit of Yuri's help, and some computer software, we ultimately got it blown up and printed on our own.

This is a picture of the two side by side. The stencil was cut out as well. The blue part, I was going to do by using probably some 8mm wood(?). I think that the wood for the staff head was about 16mm? Maybe just a little bit bigger. I was just going to paint it blue and then glue it on, we will see how things go.

My mom surprised me by cutting out my staff head while I was at work :}. It still needs more-- Sanding-- shivers-- but it's an overall awesome look, and it will be getting spray painted with multiple shades of gold, as well as some more surprises you followers are just going to have to wait and see!

As always, I will keep ya'll posted as more progressions are made on my costumes, as well as making some sort of, these are the things i still need lists (which is mostly small things, so i'm not too worried about it.)

Happy Cosplay! :D
