End to One-- beginning to-- two?

Update: I've actually decided to go a different direction.

One thing i was thinking about while I was cosplaying, is friday isn't really easy to dress up on. You have traveling among many many other things.

I want an EASY costume, for both friday and sunday that I can be able to play in, and have fun in, shop in, be cute but still do the thing i love-- cosplay.

Chii from Chobits. Cute, mostly easy. Was just thinking of altering the wig length to shorter so it's easier to deal with. (I learned that the hard way). Probably about down to my back, just the clips in the front, a shirt, ears? Possibility.

Next-- is the harder one. Luna (in Human form) from Sailor Moon.

I would post a picture of someone cosplaying it... but there's not many good cosplayers of it. I guess if i do the costume next year, depends on if i can get a job this year, because i'm pretty sure mom's sick of helping me.... <<;

Ahh well. I'm eighteen, soon nineteen. Gotta do it while i still gotta body, right?

Final Thoughts

Otakon 2010, = success.

I finally have some full pictures for you!

Overall, i got tons of compliments. A lot of them consisted of "You're the best Kakyuu I've ever seen" :] Thank you all, for all of your support; through all the wig drama and gold foiling...

If i wear this costume again, i'd most definately get the wig done, and commision someone else to do it so that it'll be better and easier to handle. Also it would be nice if the wig actually fit and my head wasn't aching by noon.

I would LOVE to wear it again. I truely did feel like a princess. I also would love to do professional pictures in it, for the sake of having them, but i don't have the money to pay for that, so maybe next year after a job. :]

The end to one costume-- the begginning to-- another? ;]

Oh right, cosplay!

After very, very, very, VERY, few posts. I'm pleased to inform you that my costume is 90% complete.

Thanks to Micah's (girl) mom I have the most important part of my costume, the coat (also boots and gloves thanks to her >.>.)
I now just have a few minor things to do here and there, like find a good hat, sew red buttons onto the shirt, find a globe, and actually I think that may be it. Oh and a turtle neck. I don't think I'm going to be using a wig this year. I feel like I waited a little too long and don't want to have to go through all the trouble of ordering one and what not, and I personally don't mind doing the costume without one (judge me.)

I guess I'll post some photo updates. Cause I haven't... at all. Just not right now :D !

How to do-- or not to do-- a cosplay wig

Beforehand, learn how to french braid your own hair, because it'll be a good thing for underneathe the wig cap, so that none of your new long beautiful hair will escape.

First you start by taking the wig out of the package, placing it on the styrofoam head, and brushing the fucker out

Then, place curlers applying very very (<200 degree) heat on it, and a little bit of hairspray.

Make-over your wig head, and give her a name. Ours was named "Barbara." We drew her eyes closed to ensure that she couldn't see what we were doing to her >>; hehe. She also has her marylin monroe, among many other things pierced with sewing pins.

Chop off the rats tail at the bottom, and give it to vikki to wear and pretend as her leg hair.

Put her hair in pigtails. and try various methods to keep the hoops together.

Get your mother to save your ass when you get overwhelmed, angry, and begin to cry out of frustration.

Place the crown on her head and leave a finished product. Barbara has now become a beauty queen as well as a cannibal (don't ask). The reason it's at a tilt is because barbara's head is tilted a tad bit, but you can't exactly tell unless you put something on that's symmetrical.

In conclusion. Have someone else style your wig, and pay the extra money for the commision, but i do like the way that it turned out, nauvice breakdowns and all. The long part of her hair will be added onto later considering it took us 2 hours to brush out barbara's hair, and 2 bottles of detangling spray (one from Vikki, one from teddy)

Thank you lots to everyone who helped; Teddy for making runs for us, Katrina for finding crap in the unorganized sewing-junk drawers, Micah for being the ring leader, Vikki for making us laugh, and Mommy for saving the day.

Eye shadow drama llama

I bought this eyeshadow today with Micah and Teddy.
i don't know if i like it, so i guess you guys get to take the vote.
i don't think it stands out enough.

IDK though.
Make-ups expensive.

This just in-- i post more than Micah. :D

I'll just go through this really quick because i'm more posting this so Micah can see my progress and get his ass movin ;]

XD

The crown is now cut out, built, patterned, and goldified-- it's drying

One of these pictures is the two ribbon choices (i chose the more sparkly one) the other picture is of my silly face and the crown in it's base form (it's also now covered in silk on both sides with lots of anti-frey)

Pattern:

So while i was doing all this, my mother was working on all of-- this:

The lining and part of the bodice:

A sleeve:

The "Final" product:

Mom just realized though how hard the skirts going to be-- so hopefully she doesn't strangle me considering the K.A. costume is fitted to me.

Though we had quite many problems-- the pattern we were using for the boddice was two pieces and we didn't want the ugly seam down the middle of my breasts so we had to goof it, and take out the darts, causing my boobs to now be squeezed tightly against my chest (ah well, asian women don't have breasts anyways)

Mom began on the bloomers, but didn't estimate that my hips had to go inside of them, so we ran out of red fabric and have to wait till Sunday (techniqually todayy) to be able to go to leesburg and get the correct red material.

Oh yes, and wig drama-- i don't really want to talk about it.

Btw. if you cosplay-- get your wig commisioned.

Tata for now! :D <3

Bow :]

I finished my bow :]

I don't really feel like saying much. The back's really ugly and full of hot glue. I'm such a perfectionist, i had to do and re-do the petals several times but i'm happy with it... mostly...

I still think the little gold flower is an ugly flower but it's all teddy's fault cause he picked it out ;] xD. i'm just kidding. There's going to be tons of more flowers to be spratically placed throughout my costume so maybe they can outweigh the little ugly one on my bow.

Tell me it's symmetrical, and pretty. Because i'm such a perfectionist, that this little bow took me like 3 hours. (and that's not including the time tye dying)

Tye Dyeing! :D

Okay. I can't spell. <<; or it doesn't look right at least.

So. Origininally i had bought this flat rope stuff, but it didn't look like the right color and it wasn't very pretty... or at least it doesn't seem right... So i went to a store today in Fairfax (This GIANT Jo-Ann that Micah told me about) and i actually found a color fabric that i liked for the blue of the middle piece of material. (Yay!)

Before, mom had brought up this idea of getting like twisted rope stuff and dyeing it, but i was like "omg, that's going to be too hard... there's too many different colors... yatayatayata" Buuut with some erging from Micah i decided to try to get white twisted rope and dying it. Problem being-- the only dye was like ROYAL BLUE. Which is definately not the color that i needed.

So, i thought about sharpie dyeing it with that one colored sharpie.

That one; the one with the weird yellow circle around it. But then we realized that we'd have to buy an entire set in order to buy it and neither of us actually had ever sharpie dyed.

We began to look into using a water based paint, and dying it. But then again there truely are no tutorials on that <<; so that began to be a bad option.

Lastly, we were looking at Micheals to see if there were any other types of fabric dyes and we found tye dye turquoise which looked right. Then we decided if we had to buy the whole damn kit we might as well tye dye some shirts too (and i convinced teddy to buy us a set of three).

I'll post pictures when they've been washed and everything but we ended the day with a swim in Austen's pool (THANKS AUSTEN!), and watching Princess Mononoke.

Good day.

Procrastinating,

I've gotten a few of the more important things I needed, now it's just time to start sewing. The problem is that I don't know where to start. I got a red button up shirt and removed the collar, I'm replacing the grey buttons with red buttons, none of things are hard.

The part I'm dreading is making the coat, I only have a slight idea of what I'm doing, and am putting it off as much as I can. I should stop before it's too late. Hopefully I'll start it within the next few days.

Things I still need:
  • Gold Rosary or Gold Cross pendant
  • Globe
  • Red (leather) Gloves
  • Black Turtle Neck
  • Hat (& red ribbon)
  • Black Boots

Fabric Shopping-- Check.

Today, me and my mother (along with Teddy and my sister) decided to go fabric shopping. It wasn't really like that though. My sister was taking me to the big store in Chantilly just to look for rope, then my mom happenned to get off of work while we were over there.

We didnt' actually buy much there though, some rope that wouldn't work. But then we headed off to the Mcclintock in Leesburg and found a 1/2 off sale which made us happy. Too bad most of the silk wasn't on sale and that's what i need <<;

Check List of What I have Left:
Marbles
Gold Trim
Wig
Hair Exstentions
Wig treatment stuff (spray, brush, cap, etc.)
Shoes
Red Paint
Sealer for the flowers
Sticks
Blue rope
and Blue Fabric
Red eyeshadow
Sparkle

Wow, that seems like a lot.

Thankfully i'm in a better mood then i was last night (I started crying when i realized how much work designing my wig was going to be; and added that to the price of getting one already styled--$200)and now my costume is maybe... 4% done. Haha.

Lots to do! Mom's leaving the crown to me.

Mind Changes,

Finally decided to cosplay this year, and since last year I really wanted to do Dio from Last Exile, that's who I thought I was going with.

But after a little thinking because I actually haven't bought fabric yet (I need to do that this week) I've decided to do a Subaru Sumeragi from Tokyo Babylon.

(This one.)

Not too hard, fashionable (always important right? ha). I'll probably include some props but for the time being I should just worry about making the costume itself.

Costumes-- About 2% done.

So me and Micah have been working on costumes, Mine is Lady Kakyuu from Sailor Moon (starz). The only thing i've done are the little flowers, and he made this little broach thing that looks like an infinity symbol. Dx

I'll put up more pictures as we go along, we havent gone fabric shopping, just fabric Browzing... The next thing i need is a wig, and the ribbon/rope thing.

My camera is broken, so these images are from my cell phone, but I tried to find a really good light, so hopefully you'll be able to see them.

The Very Begginning

Girl Micah's costume! :D Lady Kakyuu from Sailor moon. Notice the bajillions of little details.

We're trying to get the costumes done by July 30th! and we need tons of support, and help. They're big tasks, but we're working our hardest and right now my fingers hurt from making tiny little flowers.

My mom doesn't know if she'll be able to finish the sewing on my costume (I don't know how to sew well) but i'm still counting on her, and trying to make all the little details so that she has less work to do. The week before if she doesn't get it done, i'll probably have my little fingers to the bone trying to work a sewing machine and the costume'll turn out like shit, but i'll be in it and i'm pretty.

Things I need:
Wig
Blue tie (rope thing)
Circles for my hair
Red Eye Shadow
Sparkles
Fake Lashes
Jewels for the crown
Shoes (and Red soles)
Fabric

(This list will get bigger)
