Oh right, cosplay!

After very, very, very, VERY, few posts. I'm pleased to inform you that my costume is 90% complete.

Thanks to Micah's (girl) mom I have the most important part of my costume, the coat (also boots and gloves thanks to her >.>.)
I now just have a few minor things to do here and there, like find a good hat, sew red buttons onto the shirt, find a globe, and actually I think that may be it. Oh and a turtle neck. I don't think I'm going to be using a wig this year. I feel like I waited a little too long and don't want to have to go through all the trouble of ordering one and what not, and I personally don't mind doing the costume without one (judge me.)

I guess I'll post some photo updates. Cause I haven't... at all. Just not right now :D !

How to do-- or not to do-- a cosplay wig

Beforehand, learn how to french braid your own hair, because it'll be a good thing for underneathe the wig cap, so that none of your new long beautiful hair will escape.

First you start by taking the wig out of the package, placing it on the styrofoam head, and brushing the fucker out

Then, place curlers applying very very (<200 degree) heat on it, and a little bit of hairspray.

Make-over your wig head, and give her a name. Ours was named "Barbara." We drew her eyes closed to ensure that she couldn't see what we were doing to her >>; hehe. She also has her marylin monroe, among many other things pierced with sewing pins.

Chop off the rats tail at the bottom, and give it to vikki to wear and pretend as her leg hair.

Put her hair in pigtails. and try various methods to keep the hoops together.

Get your mother to save your ass when you get overwhelmed, angry, and begin to cry out of frustration.

Place the crown on her head and leave a finished product. Barbara has now become a beauty queen as well as a cannibal (don't ask). The reason it's at a tilt is because barbara's head is tilted a tad bit, but you can't exactly tell unless you put something on that's symmetrical.

In conclusion. Have someone else style your wig, and pay the extra money for the commision, but i do like the way that it turned out, nauvice breakdowns and all. The long part of her hair will be added onto later considering it took us 2 hours to brush out barbara's hair, and 2 bottles of detangling spray (one from Vikki, one from teddy)

Thank you lots to everyone who helped; Teddy for making runs for us, Katrina for finding crap in the unorganized sewing-junk drawers, Micah for being the ring leader, Vikki for making us laugh, and Mommy for saving the day.

Eye shadow drama llama

I bought this eyeshadow today with Micah and Teddy.
i don't know if i like it, so i guess you guys get to take the vote.
i don't think it stands out enough.

IDK though.
Make-ups expensive.

This just in-- i post more than Micah. :D

I'll just go through this really quick because i'm more posting this so Micah can see my progress and get his ass movin ;]

XD

The crown is now cut out, built, patterned, and goldified-- it's drying

One of these pictures is the two ribbon choices (i chose the more sparkly one) the other picture is of my silly face and the crown in it's base form (it's also now covered in silk on both sides with lots of anti-frey)

Pattern:

So while i was doing all this, my mother was working on all of-- this:

The lining and part of the bodice:

The "Final" product:

Mom just realized though how hard the skirts going to be-- so hopefully she doesn't strangle me considering the K.A. costume is fitted to me.

Though we had quite many problems-- the pattern we were using for the boddice was two pieces and we didn't want the ugly seam down the middle of my breasts so we had to goof it, and take out the darts, causing my boobs to now be squeezed tightly against my chest (ah well, asian women don't have breasts anyways)

Mom began on the bloomers, but didn't estimate that my hips had to go inside of them, so we ran out of red fabric and have to wait till Sunday (techniqually todayy) to be able to go to leesburg and get the correct red material.

Oh yes, and wig drama-- i don't really want to talk about it.

Btw. if you cosplay-- get your wig commisioned.

Tata for now! :D <3

Bow :]

I finished my bow :]

I don't really feel like saying much. The back's really ugly and full of hot glue. I'm such a perfectionist, i had to do and re-do the petals several times but i'm happy with it... mostly...

I still think the little gold flower is an ugly flower but it's all teddy's fault cause he picked it out ;] xD. i'm just kidding. There's going to be tons of more flowers to be spratically placed throughout my costume so maybe they can outweigh the little ugly one on my bow.

Tell me it's symmetrical, and pretty. Because i'm such a perfectionist, that this little bow took me like 3 hours. (and that's not including the time tye dying)

Tye Dyeing! :D

Okay. I can't spell. <<; or it doesn't look right at least.

So. Origininally i had bought this flat rope stuff, but it didn't look like the right color and it wasn't very pretty... or at least it doesn't seem right... So i went to a store today in Fairfax (This GIANT Jo-Ann that Micah told me about) and i actually found a color fabric that i liked for the blue of the middle piece of material. (Yay!)

Before, mom had brought up this idea of getting like twisted rope stuff and dyeing it, but i was like "omg, that's going to be too hard... there's too many different colors... yatayatayata" Buuut with some erging from Micah i decided to try to get white twisted rope and dying it. Problem being-- the only dye was like ROYAL BLUE. Which is definately not the color that i needed.

So, i thought about sharpie dyeing it with that one colored sharpie.

That one; the one with the weird yellow circle around it. But then we realized that we'd have to buy an entire set in order to buy it and neither of us actually had ever sharpie dyed.

We began to look into using a water based paint, and dying it. But then again there truely are no tutorials on that <<; so that began to be a bad option.

Lastly, we were looking at Micheals to see if there were any other types of fabric dyes and we found tye dye turquoise which looked right. Then we decided if we had to buy the whole damn kit we might as well tye dye some shirts too (and i convinced teddy to buy us a set of three).

I'll post pictures when they've been washed and everything but we ended the day with a swim in Austen's pool (THANKS AUSTEN!), and watching Princess Mononoke.

Good day.

Procrastinating,

I've gotten a few of the more important things I needed, now it's just time to start sewing. The problem is that I don't know where to start. I got a red button up shirt and removed the collar, I'm replacing the grey buttons with red buttons, none of things are hard.

The part I'm dreading is making the coat, I only have a slight idea of what I'm doing, and am putting it off as much as I can. I should stop before it's too late. Hopefully I'll start it within the next few days.

Things I still need:
  • Gold Rosary or Gold Cross pendant
  • Globe
  • Red (leather) Gloves
  • Black Turtle Neck
  • Hat (& red ribbon)
  • Black Boots
